Quibble – Quad Nibble – IPv6

You need to add a widget, row, or prebuilt layout before you’ll see anything here. 🙂

In 2005, during a 6LoWPAN working group meeting at the IETF, Geoff proposed using the term Quibble (Quad Nibble) as the name for each of the 8 parts of an IPv6 address, like Octet is used as the name for each of the 4 parts of the IPv4 address.

Quibble comes from Nibble (a 4 bit entity) and Quad equals 4, so this is 16 bits which is how the IPv6 address is divided, such as FE:00:01:02:03:04:05:FF.
